Market Intelligence
The poets exhort us to gather ye rosebuds while ye may.
At The Digital Life Group, we take a slightly different approach. We gather market intelligence. And while it may not be as fragrant as rosebuds, market intelligence can offer up some rather aromatic information.
It’s used to better understand the opportunities, challenges, competitors and trends in the technology marketplace, whether in the area of toys, digital cameras, MP3 players, DRM, security or privacy. Sources for this information can be as varied as industry insiders, conferences, trade shows, analysts, trade press, mainstream media, press releases, company reports, job listings, customers, suppliers and partners.
Once the data has been distilled, we’re armed with knowledge that can help us help you give your product the optimum shot at achieving the sweet smell of success.
Product Analysis
Product analysis is imperative to bring the best product to market. Accomplishing this requires detective work. We examine product plans and products in the pipeline. And we go over them with a fine-tooth comb looking for chinks in their armor.
Good detective work also involves asking questions. And we’re not shy about asking the tough ones, like: “What’s your product’s weakness?” (Better to catch a glitch early than, say, the day you launch, eh?) We also get you to look at similar products in the marketplace. Are your product's features as good? Better?
We must confess that we’re pretty strict in our analysis. But that’s because it would be a crime if all that hard work you put in was negated because your product is a generation behind or missing critical components.
Case closed.
Positioning & Messaging
Okay, so you’ve got a brilliant new product and you want to shout it from the rooftops. While we appreciate your exuberance, we’re afraid of heights. We’re also afraid you’ll miss your target audience. (And wake the neighbors.)
You’ll be happy to know that we’re completely fearless when it comes to making sure that you direct your product at the right customers and communicate its brilliance in a simple, yet compelling manner. This entails crafting a message that subtly highlights the product’s strengths while offering arguments for why the weaknesses are not important to the buying decision.
Presentation Coaching
We've all learned to use PowerPoint as a crutch. Slides tend to have every word and idea we will present--and all too often creating those slides takes up all of our time so there is no time left to rehearse. Great presenters have few if any words on their slides. It takes courage to present this way--but in the end its far more impactful--but takes far more preparation and rehearsal. The Digital Life Consulting Group can teach you how to get away from Read & Repeat and back to Show & Tell.
Launch Strategy Consulting
Just as you’ve invested a lot of time developing your new product, Digital Life invests a lot time consulting on and/or developing customized strategies to launch that product. The backbone of those strategies is everything we learn from market intelligence and product analysis.
But product launches are not just based on facts and figures. We also factor in our extensive experience in the industry and a core set of beliefs that have been forged along the way. (That’s forged as in created, not forged as in copied.)
It’s a package deal that we’ve found works exceptionally well when it comes to creating the strongest, most successful and most effective product launches possible.
PR & Promotion
Once the positioning is done, we will help you find and manage top-notch PR resources. We’ve worked with most of the key agencies and consultants so we can help you figure out who best fits your needs. If the fit is right, we can also handle the PR directly.
Our roots were designing and executing top-notch PR programs for leading brands (as well as unknown startups) and getting them positive coverage in the leading publications.
We can also assist with setting up an internal PR function.
Finally, we can periodically review and analyze your PR activities and results.
Our goal is to ensure that our consulting clients are always getting the best objectives-based PR results for their dollar--no matter who is carrying it out.
